OPUS MIXTUS POST JAZZ, a North County-based ensemble directed by
Heather Dale, has many different facets all aimed at unifying the dance community through education and collaboration. OMPJ is driven to bring artistic contemporary jazz dance to everyone, but especially to young dancers who may have no exposure to dance as art. By using movement vocabulary that young dancers can relate to, OMPJ hopes to help them value dance for its deeper expressive meaning. This ensemble is also hoping to bring together different dancers from different backgrounds and erase the lines between the different styles, at least momentarily, so that dancers who may never have the opportunity to learn from each other will have that chance. OMPJ was created with the idea of making work without boundaries or labels for the simple love of producing dance.
